Shanghai Here I Come...

Hee... I just heard from my new Marketing Coordinator that my Technical Director finally gave approval for me to go to the tradeshow with them in September! :D Thank you Boss! Hee... I knew my boss had been fighting for me to attend this tradeshow with them since the beginning of this year... So it is great that it finally got approved! :P

I am thinking of extending the trip and explore other parts of China alone while I'm there... Depending on whether I can take leave during that period of time... I hope I can... Let's see how it goes... :P

Cravings...

Last night before I went to bed, I suddenly had a craving for two things that I have not had in years... Brownie and hot Passionfruit Tea from Olio Dome...

I still remember going there once in a while many years ago to just eat the brownie, drink the hot Passionfruit tea or mushroom soup. I still remember the brownie that Olio Dome used to serve is one of the better ones that you can find in Singapore... Their brownie was just nice... Not too sweet and it tasted the best with hot fudge on top of it... There is probably ain't any other place that I know of where they serves hot Passionfruit Tea... I tried buying Passionfruit teabags from supermarkets but somehow the taste is just different. It just doesn't smell and taste as nice...

O... How I miss them... I think it's time for me to make a trip down to Olio Dome... :D

Insomnia Strikes Again... Damn~!

I am suffering from insomnia again... Damn... It is so irritating... I think it is the medication that I am taking now that's causing the problem... I had spoken to my doctor but he said that it should not cause insomnia... The only way he can think of is for me to take the medication earlier... Maybe it's just me lah... Hai...

To makes things worse, I am supposed to continue with this medication for another 3 months... I hope I will be able to get used to this medication soon and my insomnia will just go away... I want quality sleep~! :'(

Over Excellent Service...

I met up with a few of my good friends for dinner at Crystal Jade in IMM on Monday. The food there was quite alright... Nothing really very fantastic but it is the "service" that gives me the lasting impression...

Maybe it was a Monday night when we met up for dinner, a day when most people prefers to go home after work? Maybe it was because Crystal Jade places many staff on duty during dinner time to ensure their excellent service to their customers? (My friend counted around 15 staff including the kitchen staff in the whole restaurant which was around half full.) I am not too sure but for once I am actually quite irritated with the "excellent" service I received while dining in a restaurant! Me of all people!

I must admit that sometimes I can be quite particular about service that I received when dining in a restaurant. So I think this is probably the first time that I can remember being bothered by good service in a restaurant. If you ask me what is considered as good service in a restaurant, I will probably tell you "Prompt service when asked for, clearing of plates when we are done with the food..." There are other things too but I can't think of it now... But you will just know when the service is good I guess...

Back to the point... You may be wondering what is it about the good service that bothers me so much? Imagine while you are still finishing your dinner and in span of 5 minutes, 2 waitress came over to your table and offer to clear the plates? I was still quite alright with the Waitress A offering to clear the empty plates even though I stopped her halfway because there was still some food left on the table and I didn't think it was nice for her to clear my friend's cutlery away because that would be like depriving her of her chance to eat the rest of the food left. Less than 3 minutes after Waitress A left, Waitress B came over and attempted to clear away the plate that still had some food left on it. She failed to check with us if it was ok to clear the plate away. She just took the plate until I stopped her and told her that we were not done with the food yet. I do know it can be hard to judge if the customers are done with the food or not because I used to work as a waitress before too, but the least you can do is to ask... It's just basic courtesy...

While we were having our dessert, in a state of bo liao-ness, we decided to test how much of a "good" service will they provide us. Will the waitress ask politely before attempting to clear the bowl which we purposely left a bit of dessert in the bowl? Tested and proven, Waitress B really didn't know what is basic manners. She just came over to our table and cleared the bowl without even asking if we are done with it. We didn't even have a chance to stop her... Plain rudeness...

Maybe the problem lies with Waitress B but I guess I won't be going there for dinner for a while... At least until they less of this kind of "excellent" service. *Roll eyes*

Translation...

I was looking up about some part time studies thing recently when I stumbled upon a Chinese Translation course. It was organised by NUS Extension, lasting around 2 months. I was quite interested in this course since it is not very long, not very expensive, my language skills are considerably good, I have some interest...

I actually decided to take up this course until this morning... I have a friend who works in HK. He needs to translate some document from English to Chinese and so I offered to help since I want to try it out myself and see if I can manage.

After opening the document and try to translate for a while, I decided to change my mind about taking up the course. The interest is still there. The only problem is, I don't have the patience to sit through and translate the whole document. To think it is only a one page document!

Think I am giving the course a miss... Haha...

New Toy!

Hee... I just got a new toy! Samsung Omnia~! :D I have been waiting for my 2 yr Singtel mobile contract to end so that I can switch over to M1. It finally came after a long long wait... :D

I am still not very familiar on how to use my new toy... Still at the play and find out stage. I kind of quite like it considering that it is my first smart phone. :D It's not very hard to use, just need sometime getting used to. I even accidentally deleted 70+ to 80+ MSN contacts while I was trying out the Messanger function in the phone. Faint... So from like 100+ MSN contact people, it is currently down to like 40+ after I added some people whose email address I still can remember again. Now I had to hope the rest of the people will add me back again... Hee...

I do hope that I will be able to make full use of the expensive phone... Hope so... :P

Palmistry

I know of two friends, 神棍 and 神婆 who just started studying Palmistry from a Master. It seems to me that they are particularly interested in my palms these days. Maybe because my palms are quite different from other people. Faintz...

Last night we were having dinner at the famous Cheese Prata shop in Fong Seng and while we were waiting for our food to come, my palms were lied out in front of them letting them analyse...

This is perhaps the first time that I am letting people analyse my palms. I do not really like to go for those fortune telling and etc as I know I am someone who will think a lot if I hear bad things that will happen to me. For 神棍 and 神婆, I think it's still ok because they are still in the learning stage plus the fact that they are friends. Anyway I just keep telling myself that it is just for reference... :P

神棍 did came up with a conclusion after reading my palms that I agree... I am an indecisive person. That part is very true... For some reason, I just can't make up my mind on certain things.

Maybe I will go and read up on Palmistry and try to analyse for myself. In the meantime... Let 神棍 and 神婆 help me analyse... I feel so much like a guinea pig... :P

Tired...

I'm tired of...

... waiting for the chance to ask some questions that has been bothering me
... waiting for an answer that doesn't seem to come
... not knowing what I want in life
... being mistaken

Sigh....

Dinner at the New 7th Storey Hotel

I have been thinking of trying out the charcoal steamboat at the New 7th Storey Hotel for quite sometime. Since my bf and I were met up in Bugis just now, we decided to pop over and have our dinner there.

We ordered the charcoal steamboat set for 2 pax ($29) and another ala carte Hainanese Pork Chop ($13.80). The food came quite fast and the charcoal steamboat is boiling hot... This was the first time I ate charcoal steamboat. The food is that comes in the set is quite basic with vegetables, eggs, fish, chicken, tofu, 2 eggs, 3 prawns, mushrooms... If you do not like the food that comes with the set, there are other ala carte items on the menu that you can choose from. Theirs are not those buffet steamboat with all you can eat kind of stuff. The soup base for the steamboat is very nice... At least I quite like it... :D

The Hainanese Pork Chop is quite good too. It is crispy but yet not oily. Yum...

Total bill came up to around $50+. Not too expensive and nice food. Remember to go there and try the food before the whole hotel has to go in December...

A round that last 13 years

After walking a big round that last for 13 years, I find myself at the starting point again... To find myself looking back at the same old thing. After so many years when I thought I had forgotten about it, when I thought I no longer care...

Random thoughts in my mind...

For some reason, I have been thinking about a lot of things these past few days. I started to think about what do I want to achieve in my life, what do I plan to do, what should I do about somethings in my life.

I began looking back at my life and realised something. True, I have a great job, a wonderful family, great friends... But there's nothing else to it anymore. Till date, I still have no idea what is it in life that I want.

This leads me to think that maybe I should look for job opportunities outside Singapore. Freedom is one thing, but the main thing is for me to experience life in other countries. To experience the culture and all. At least I will be doing something that I have thought about many many years ago. If there's anytime, this is actually the best time for me to work overseas. At least my parents are still healthy and there are people in my house to take care of them. They will then be in the least of my worries.

Ok... Job hunting begins~! :D

Contradiction

Sometimes I think I am a very contradictory person. On one hand I can say "No, I don't think I will ever do this, this, and this". On the other hand, I do not practise what I preach.

For many years, there are some sets of rules that I live by or believe in. However, it seems that I am willing to break these set of rules that I live by or believe in very easily too. Especially when it involves certain things. Things that I let my heart rule over my mind...

I have always thought that I am a very practical person. I will always tell myself to be practical, to protect myself so that I will not be hurt. At least that's what I thought... Not that I regretted but I just find that I'm so contradicting. So silly...

Grrr...

Grrr... Sometimes I think I better bring my mum along with me if I want to buy clothes. My brother's wedding dinner is on this coming Sunday. So I have no choice but to hunt for a dress to wear for the wedding dinner.

I bought a dress from Vivocity during lunchtime yesterday. My colleague and I think I look pretty ok in that dress so I just bought it. I wore the dress to show my mum and sis just now and the comments that they gave was quite bad lor. I was kind of disappointed as I don't think I really look so bad in that dress. So I tried to convinced them that it's not so bad after all but we ended up quarreling. She said that I never listen to their comments so I told her that next time I will just go shopping with her if I need to buy a dress and then I will let her choose what she wants me to wear without even saying a word.

I never understand why do I always end up quarreling with her when I buy clothes. Grrrr....

Drug Allergy...

I am currently suffering from an allergic reaction to a painkiller, Synflex that I had taken yesterday afternoon. At first I feel perfectly fine even though I told my colleague that I did not even feel any effect of the medicine because I can still feel the pain. However, 2hours after I took the medication, something started to feel wrong...

I can feel the area around my eyes being very itchy. I rub it a bit then stopped. After that I started feeling my eyes swelling. I went to the Ladies to take a look at it and that was when I guess that I am suffering from an allergy. Soon after my left eye is only left with a small slit. After sometime, I can feel the left side of my face swelling a bit too.

I went and see the doctor and he confirmed that it's an allergy reaction. I got 1 day MC to rest at home today. :D A rest I badly needs since I have not been sleeping well for quite sometime. Somehow the medication that the doctor prescribe to me for the reducing of swell did not work very well. The left side of my face is still swollen. Just that my eyes are not as swollen as they are yesterday. Hope I can recover soon... :)
