Nowadays, other than wedding dinners, I guess the other more unexpected place to have a gathering is probably at a funeral wake.
I had a primary school class gathering at a funeral wake just the other day. I received an sms from my primary school classmate saying that his dad had passed away. He thought that he should let his primary school friends know. I smsed some of the few others to check if they will be attending the wake. If they are, when? In the end, it appears that this friend of mine only informed me about it as no one else seem to know anything about it. So I end up sort of helping him "spread the word".
4 of us turned up for the wake. 1 of them could not make it as she is getting married this year so she is not supposed to attend any weddings or funerals this year. We talked about the past. Talked about who used to like who, talked about what we used to do in school, talked about the teacher whom everyone loved but is actually the one who ill treated us the most. It was really fun to recall all the olden days. Gone were the days but bits and pieces of the memory returned as someone recalled something. Some of the memories were added as we told each other things that they never knew or noticed. It was really fun to recall them back...
I look forward to another primary school gathering. Definitely in another situation... Till then...
