Bye Shanghai...

This trip to Shanghai is kind of rush for me. I barely have time to explore Shanghai. In a way, I guess I lost some of the excitement to explore the place as I had been there 2 years ago. The only difference this time round is probably that I have friends together with me for this trip. So it ended up like a trip where they explore and I tag along. :P The only new place that I went in Shanghai this time round is probably the factory outlets. Not that they have anything interesting there. No, I did not get off with any purchase at all. Sigh...

I guess another unfortunate thing is that I have an assignment to submit on Wednesday while I am away in Shanghai. As I did not manage to finish it before I left for Shanghai, I had no choice but to bring my stuff to Shanghai to continue.

However, I did managed to meet up with a primary school friend of mine for dinner while I was in Shanghai. It was nice catching up with a friend when you both are so far away from home.

I did went back to Yuyuan area again this time round. I did not take any photos though since my camera had its field day many years again. Too tired, hot and lazy to take any more photos anymore. I bought some souvenirs to bring home from the shops nearby Yuyuan. I managed to get a bottle of Absolut 72 变 home too. It was suay that I found out it was being sold in DFS after I bought it from the departmental store so this means I ended up paying more that I should have. The only consolation is that the Absolut 72 变 that I bought from the departmental store comes with a neck tag. :D

For some reason even though I did not shop alot this time round, I still ended up having to buy another luggage to bring my stuff home. One thing wonderful about taking SQ. They never bat an eyelid when I exceeded my luggage limit. Hee... Yes, I got home with a 33kg luggage. :P I should really learn to keep within my luggage limit...

Random in Shanghai

Bargaining
I overheard the ABC telling another lady during breakfast, "Are you kidding? Half the fun is with the bargaining!"

Movies
Movie tickets is super expensive in Shanghai! It cost anything from RMB80 to RMB150 just to watch a movie. That's like SGD16 to SGD30!

My friend wanted to watch a movie there and I told him that my only worry is to go in and watch an English movie and end up hear the Ang Mos speak Mandarin.

World Expo 2010

We spent the whole day at the World Expo. The weather today is TOO hot! Can you imagine that it actually went up to 39 degree Celsius???!!! I, for one, seldom put sunblock on myself. I think this is probably the first time in my life where I actually religiously slap sunblock onto my body just to protect myself from the vicious sun. I wore a hat to the Expo hoping to block out some sun but apparently that is not enough. In the end, I had to go and buy an umbrella to save myself.

World Expo is very interesting. There's a lot of things to see. We did not go to all the Country Pavilions. Instead, we went to the smaller pavilions where there are less people. We walked quite alot. Totally 累垮了!

We managed to visit Singapore Pavilion. I guess the only reason why we visited Singapore Pavilion was probably because we do not have to queue as we are Singaporeans. They allow Singaporeans to enter the Pavilion without queuing as long as you show them your NRIC or passport. :P Singapore Pavilion is not very interesting but it is still nice to be able to visit your home country's Pavilion.

Singapore Pavilion

I retreated at 7.30pm after we visited Singapore Pavilion. Left YT & XZ at the World Expo. I still need to work on my individual assignment later. Sian!!!

Shanghai - Day 1

Feeling so tired now after walking ard for half the day!

I am supposed to be in Shanghai for business for the whole week. YT heard that I will be in Shanghai so he asked if he and his friend can join me for this trip. The both of them had intended to go Shanghai for the World Expo in September or October. Since I will be in Shanghai for business, they wanted to join me so that they can save their money on the accommodation. I was alright with them bunking in with me so they will be with me for this trip!

After checking into the hotel, I met up with YT and Mini outside. They waited for me at Raffles City and then we went to makan dinner.

Xiuzhen brought along a Shanghai Tour Guide Book so we went and hunt for dinner according to its recommendations.

We went around eating 生煎包,雪菜鳝丝面 and 雪菜辣酱面. I like the 生煎包 but I'm not very fascinated by the noodles. :P

布丁奶茶

After dinner, we walked down to The Bund from one of the train stations. We did not go to the Bund as there were too many people. Instead, we stayed at the area opposite The Bund where we can still see similar night scenes. By the time we were ready to leave, it was quite late. We had a hard time finding transportation back to the hotel. In the end, we had to pay more to take the "private" cabs back to the hotel. Sigh... Tio tok...

Courtyard Mariott XuJiaHui

We stayed in Courtyard Mariott XuJiaHui in Shanghai. The room is smaller than all the other rooms I stayed in while on company expense. I'm ok with it though.

The room is nicely done up with a side sofa at the bay window. I like! :D

Shanghai the 2nd Time Round...

Wah... It's been almost 2 yrs since I last been to Shanghai! There's definitely a lot of changes!

I dun remember seeing so many tall buildings in Shanghai when I was here 2 yrs ago. Shanghai is developing at a speed that is so fast that's it's so scary~

Tired!

I think I almost slept throughout my whole flight. I had not slept the previous night as I finished doing project in my classmate's house only at 2+ in the morning. After that, it was home to finish packing my luggage. Upon finished packing my luggage, it was time for me to head to the airport to catch my flight. Tired!

Weather

The weather in Shanghai now is 38degrees. It is also damn humid! As if being hot is not bad enough. I think the weather is about as bad as the weather in japan when I was there at their peak of the summer 3 yrs ago.

Arrived...

Leaving on a Jetplane~
