The organs of the body were having a meeting, trying to decide who was in-charge. Each organ took a turn to speak up:

Brain : I should be in charge because I run all body functions.
Blood : I should be in charge because I circulate oxygen for the brain.
Stomach : I should be in charge because I process food to the brain.
Legs : I should be in charge because I take the brain where it wants to go.
Eyes : I should be in charge because I let the brain see where it's going.
Asshole : I should be in charge because I get rid of your waste.

All the other parts laughed so hard and this made the asshole very mad.To prove his point, the asshole immediately slammed tightly closed and stayed that way for 6 days, refusing to rid the body of any waste whatsoever.

Day 1 - Brain got a terrible headache and cried out for relief
Day 2 - Stomach got bloated and began to ache terribly
Day 3 - Legs got cramps and became unstable
Day 4 - Eyes became watery and vision became blurred
Day 5- Blood became toxic and poisoned the body
Day 6 -The other organs agreed to let the asshole be in charge.

MORAL OF THE STORY: "NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, OR HOW IMPORTANT YOU THINK YOU ARE, YOU WILL FIND THAT IT IS ALWAYS THE ASSHOLE THAT IS INCHARGE".........

The Return of the Rubber Duckies...

The Great Singapore Duck Race is back! It's been a few years since they last held it. This year may be the last year that it is going to be hold in Singapore because according to the news, there are talks of Singapore River being converted into a reservoir. So what are you waiting for? Adopt your duckie quick. If not you may not have the chance to do it again anymore! ;)

McDonalds Food comes under the test!

I saw Iris posting this in her blog... o man... I can't believe that I actually loves them especially when I'm studying... Grrr...

I got rejected again!

I received an email from SIM about RMIT rejecting my appeal AGAIN! I appealed before and they rejected my appeal stating that they find that my working experience is too short. This time round, they did not give me any reason just saying that they still want me to take the 2 years course instead of 1.5 years course.

Frankly lah, I am pretty upset about it. But there is nothing that SIM can do for me anymore because the decision was made by RMIT. Wah liao... Don't they understand? Not everyone had money drop from the sky to pay their school fees lor... Half a year more of studies means at least $4000+ more in school fees lor... So in the end I have decided not to study in RMIT this coming July. Nope, I'm not going to take the 2 years course...

I shall take sometime to look out for other course to study. Maybe I will go apply for their scholarship. If they really give me, then I will definitely go there study no matter whether it is a 2 years course or a 1.5 years course... :P

Rice Dumpling from Crystal Jade

Nice packaging from Crystal Jade to contain their rice dumpling...

包粽子

粽子 aka Rice dumpling is usually eaten during 端午節. My mum usually likes to wrap the rice dumplings a few days before 端午節 arrives so as to give her more time. I tried to help her wrap the rice dumplings yesterday and I failed terribly in the task... :'(

Wrapping the rice dumplings seems easy from the looks of it but it's not lor... Or maybe I'm just not good in this kind of cooking or kitchen stuff ba... I did not even manage to successfully wrap a single rice dumpling because I just can't seem to be able to get the "shape" of the rice dumpling. :( I gave up eventually because I seem to 越帮越忙. My mum told me to practise wrapping the dumplings using sand before I come back and help her wrap next year. Hai... Never mind lah... I shall make a comeback next year... :D

Geek Terminal

I finally get the chance to visit the Geek Terminal with the JR gang (minus Brian) today. I first know about Geek Terminal from dk's blog quite sometime ago and know that he goes there quite often. I am probably the only one from the JR gang who has not been there yet lor... Not wanting to be a mountain tortoise for too long, I suggested that we meet up for dinner there so that I can go there and look look see see... :P

Geek Terminal is really a place for the geeks lor... You can see "tech-ie" things all over the place. The staff there are all quite friendly and was talking to us about the place, the things that they have over there and about the food they serve. They serve quite nice food there and maybe because they open only recently, they came over to our table asking for our opinion about their food. From what I know, they have been constantly improving their food ever since they start the place. They are quite receptive to other people's opinions because I made some comment about one of the drinks and they managed to come up with a modified version of the drink and let us try. I will say that the modified drink taste better than the original one. :)

I don't mind visiting them again another time. With the service and all, why not? :)

Job hop after 4 years of work...?

I have been working in my current company for around 3 years. Although I have been working there for so long, I don't really interact with all my colleagues mainly because we do not work together or because I seldom see them in the office due to their frequent travels.

I was talking to my colleague whom I seldom really talk to when he was giving me a lift home. I do talk to him lah... Just not those in depth talk... He was telling me that it is time for a person to move on to a new area of work or a new company if they are doing the same job for 4 years.

He quoted me with an example that when his previous company was thinking of doing retrenchments, the consultants that they brought in first listed that the first group of people whom they should retrench are people who are above 45 years old and have been doing the same job for over 5 years. The second group of people whom they should look into retrenching are those who have been doing the same job for over 5 years. The reason being that these 2 groups of people are actually getting "expensive" for the job that they are doing as they are doing the same job and it is sort of getting "routined" to them. It does not bring much benefit to the company if they get their annual increment every year doing the same thing when the company will be able to hire new staff to do the same job at probably a lower pay.

I do recalled my lecturer in polytechnic telling me before that we should only stay on to our first job for only 3 to 4 years. If we stay too long there, we will be so comfortable of what we are doing that we will not want to leave our comfort zone. For me, I think likewise but I feel that it is also time for me to learn new things at another place. We do not need to change to another company, but we can look out for other openings in our company and work in another field.

I do not mind staying in my current company for long but I will want to work in another area. For me, I know that I do not want to stay in the laboratory forever. This is probably one of the reason that I took up my Advanced Diploma in Strategic Marketing in the first place. I do have plans to look into doing some marketing in the future but after I obtained my degree. For now, my current company will be able to provide me with an excellent environment for studying as I can leave my company on time. Now that my plans for studying may have to be shelved for sometime, maybe it's time for me to think of the future plans for my work...

Shashlik Restaurant

I went for dinner with my colleague in a Russian restuarant called Shaslik just now. The decoration there reminds me of the restaurants in the olden days so it can be quite "retro" for some people.

I tried the Shashlik beef which is actually shish kebab. Although they do not serve it with any sauce like the Angus steak that I am so in love with, it is surprisingly good. Of course I will still prefer the steak in Angus anytime but the price of Shashlik beef is also half of what Angus will cost me! The portion of the beef is not very big but enough to make me full. They served it together with some papaya, cucumbers, tomatoes, spring onions, salad and etc... I don't really like those sides so I left them untouched.

Shashlik Beef

My colleague passed me some of her Shashlik lamb to try and I must say I think I prefer the lamb to my beef. Although the lamb has a bit of 羊骚味 but it is not strong enough to put me off the dish. Coupled with the mint jelly, I think it taste great!

Overall, I think it is another can-try restaurant. Russian food anyone? ;)

Studying plans on halt? Hope not...

I received letter from SIM accepting me for the part time degree in Business Management (Marketing) offered by RMIT. The course that they offered me was actually a 2 year course instead of the 1.5year course that I was thinking of enrolling into. I was actually rather puzzled why I am not accepted for the 1.5 year course so I wrote a letter to appeal to study for the 1.5 year course instead of the 2 year course.

The lady in charge of this called me a few days later saying that RMIT rejected my appeal as they said that they feel my working experience of 3 years are too short. I protested by saying that the terms that they listed are 3 to 5 years of working experience. If they think 3 years of working experience is too short then they should list the terms as more that 3 years of working experience and not 3 to 5 years of working experience!

Luckily the lady was quite kind and asked me to appeal again. She wanted me to write back stating my job responsibility and will help me to try and get into the 1.5 years course. I have wrote back to them and is now waiting for their reply. I may reconsider if I still want to take this course if I can't get into the 1.5 years course. I'm keeping my fingers cross now...

Hammie the Roborovski Hamster...

Hee... We finally decided to bring home the hamster which we fell in love with yesterday... It is a female Roborovski Hamster. We decided to name her Hammie after the Hammie in Over the Hedge. :P Hammie is extremely active and is forever trying to escape from the little box that the pet shop people placed it in. She is just so adorable... I will try to take some pictures of her and upload online if I can... :D

Update: Just uploaded a picture of Hammie sleeping... she looks so cute... :P

This is what happens when a smaller frog keep infuriating a bigger frog...

by climbing on top of him...

It's amazing that the smaller frog survived the ordeal is still alive and kicking now... But it is still as stupid as it still keeps trying to climb on top of the bigger frog...

Hamster

I met my bf at Vivocity just now after my work. As we were rather bored so we dropped by the Pet Safari and take a look at the little animals they are selling there. I like that cute little hamster running on the wheel immediately after I laid my eyes on. It is probably the first animal that I am thinking of giving a home...

It looks just so adorable... It was happily running on the wheel while the other hamsters are busy sleeping around... This shows that it is definitely an active hamster. It has very big eyes and looks so innocent when it looked up at me... So cute... I thought it looks like Hammie from the annimation "Over the Hedge" with it's huge innocent looking eyes. Hee...

We decided to consider a while more before deciding if we really want to bring it home... Decision decision... :P

I've got a new haircut!

I just got myself a new haircut this evening... I mean haircut and not hair trim (or trim my hair)... There's a difference you know? :P I usually only trim my hair but this time it's different... I cut my hair short... Not those tom boy hair cut style lah... It's longer... But I don't remember having such short hair for a very long time leh... In fact it's years since my hair is so short... The last time I had such short hair was most probably in secondary school?

Actually I have been wanting to cut my hair short for dunno how long liao... But due to heavy objections from everyone, I did not do so lor... :( The hair stylist actually wanted to let my hair be slightly longer but dunno how come cut until so short... Plus the fact that my hair curls so it now looks shorter than it is... Not that I mind though... :P So don't be surprise the next time you see me... :D

200 Pounds Beauty - Beautiful Girl

I finally get to watch 200 Pounds Beauty this afternoon. For some reason I have not been able to catch the show when it was showing in the cinemas so I can only wait until the DVD is out before I can buy it and watch. I think the show is good... Quite funny but yet touching... For those who have yet to watch, you can get the DVD from the stores now. :)

Mellben Seafood

I went to the "restaurant" in AMK that sells the famous 螃蟹米粉 for dinner with my bf and his family yesterday... We reached there at around 6.30 pm and the coffeeshop was already full house and there was already a quene outside while the customers waited for a table. According to the boss of Mellben Seafood, their store opens at around 5pm and people actually started queneing at around 4 plus. WOW...

We ordered several dishes like 麦片虾, 一品锅, 荷叶排骨, 菜圃鱼 and etc and of course we would miss out the 奶油螃蟹. Like the 砂锅螃蟹米粉, the 奶油螃蟹 is another 招牌菜 of the restaurant. I quite like the 奶油螃蟹... Yummy... I like the 荷叶排骨 and 菜圃鱼 but I am not very impressed with the rest of the other dishes. I think the 煮炒 store at the coffeeshop near my house has better dishes... So if anyone is dying to try out the food in the restaurant, it's enough to try out the crab dishes.. Don't put too much hope in their other dishes...

For those who wants to try out the 砂锅螃蟹米粉, their address is at:

Julian Beever at work

Julian Beever aka Pavement Picasso

I know most people will know about this by now lah... But I just wanna blog about it... Pavement Picasson Julian Beever was invited by Nokia a few weeks ago to leave his mark in Singapore... I purposely went down to Raffles City to have a look at his pavement drawing... There's nothing more I can say than "O my... I can't believe I'm seeing this myself..." when I saw his drawing. I never thought I will be able to see it in person especially when I saw so many of his drawings from those email circulations... I think it's a remarkable piece of drawing... He actually made a note on the floor saying that the effect of this drawing is best seen in camera or print out... For those who has yet to see this, hurry down before you miss the chance of seeing it yourself...

Online ordering of Dunkin Donuts

I mentioned about the doughnut craze that hit Singapore before. Now for those who people who love doughnuts, you can now order them online! I got to know about them through SPUG OTC forum. The people who set up the online doughnut store claimed that the doughnuts are from Dunkin Donuts lah... But who knows whether they are real or not since they do not have an actual shop location. Some people suspect them to be bought from the Dunkin Donuts in Malaysia... They operate solely online and you will need to collect the doughnuts from specific places unless you order doughnuts worth of $105 and above.

I read that some people say it taste better than those from Doughnut Factory cos they are not so oily. I don't think anyone cares if they are selling authentic Dunkin Donuts so long as they taste great.
