CNY Day 2

CNY Day 2 is probably one of my favorite CNY day. CNY day 2 is usually the day when I go house visiting at my mother's side. We will park ourselves at my uncle's place and gather to carry out our favourite activity... Gamble! What is CNY minus the gambling session at my uncle's house?

However, this year's CNY is slightly different from all those previous years. There's much less gambling this year when compared to all the previous years because of the no gambling ruling that the aunties had set due to some things that happened just before CNY. Still, we did gamble a little but we really cut it short by alot... Previous years of gambling sees that whole house full of people gambling that there is hardly any space to walk. Unless you want to cut through the gamblers. :P

We also did something that I had never done with my that bunch of cousins before. Gossip. We gathered at my Auntie's place which is just 1 storey up from my uncle's place and gossip about THE family. It is really a wonder how some things turned up this way and made all of us so disappointed with them. I do hope next year's CNY will be better. At least, I guess I don't foresee there will be anything that can shock us anymore. Or rather, I hope...

Not a Great Start to 牛牛 Year...

Wah liao... I didn't expect myself to fall sick on Chinese New Year Eve lor... The worst thing is... I am very sick lor... In fact, I am seldom so sick at all. Whenever I am down with fever, popping a Panadol Extra will cure me within hours. Not this time though. My fever has been coming and going for the past 3 days with me eating 5 Panadol Extras already. That's really a new record for me. My sore throat is still not fully recovered probably because I am coughing so much and hard. I am down with flu too... It's like all my "good friends" are here to visit me all at one go... Faintz...

Too bad I had already taken leave on Wednesday if not I will take mc instead. Ahhh... Waste my leave... :(

Bad Ending to the Mousey Year...

Wah liao... Everything has been quite smooth for me during this Mousey Year... Or so I thought... To think everything come at one go on the last day of the Mousey Year!

I woke up with a sore throat this morning, which has since been coupled with a fever. I broke my bottle of eye gel (岁岁平安!) and overturn my whole loose powder onto the floor (落地开花!) ...

I just hope 牛牛 year will be an even better year for me.

Happy 牛年!

Happy 牛年 everyone! This year's Chinese New Year is sooo early!!! It's only late January and Chinese New Year is coming and going already!

Let's hope everyone will have a good 牛牛年. Huat ah!!!

Half Day

There's something weird with my stomach for the whole night after I took my medication before I slept. I am not sure if it was because I downed the medicine without drinking any water but I just feel that the medicine went to the "wrong" place. It felt stuck in some funny part of my stomach. I woke up quite a number of times throughout the night due to the discomfort. I ended up waking up for work at only at 7.10 this morning. Part of the reason was probably because my hp hanged during the night and since I used it as an alarm clock, it failed to wake me up this morning.

Luckily I still managed to reach the office before 9am. :P I went to the office, my lunch kaki who is also the HR assistant informed me that our MD gave us a half day off! :D So here I am back at home... It's just too bad that I have school later tonight... How I wish there is no school on Fridays.... Sian...

Oh No! They have been Hamster-ised!

I was jalan jalan-ing in this pasar malem in Hougang when I saw that they have this new ermm... activity(?) in the pasar malem. Other pasar malems have games, ferris wheels and etc. This pasar malem is a bit different... They have this activity called 水上步行球.

It seems to be quite popular amongst kids as I see quite many kids playing it. It's not very cheap wor as it cost like $6 or $8 for a child to go into that ball for 5 mins or maybe it's 10 mins I can't really remember. I can't help but feel that the kids have been "hamsterised" when they are playing it. Doesn't this scene looks awfully familiar?

Doesn't it looks like Rhino inside the hamster ball in the animation Bolt.

Change of template

Hee... I have just changed my template... Hee... Something different this time... I quite like it... Let's see how long will I still to this... :D

$350 gone in 2 hours...

Where do you choose to go when you are cutting your hair? Do you go to those home operated hair salon, hair salons in neighbourhood areas, hair salons in shopping centers for your hair cut? On average, how much do you spend for a hair cut? $10? $20? $30? or more? I know typically, guys will spend an average of $10 - $30 for a haircut. Anything more than that will be considered as expensive. Ladies usually spend a bit more than that, anything ranging from $20 onwards. If they do additional stuff to their hair like rebonding, perming, ceramic perm and etc, it will easily cost hundreds.

What is so different about where you get your haircut? Why does it cost so different if you get your haircut at neighbourhood areas or shopping center? It can be something to do with the experience of the hair stylist, the location and etc.

All along, the most expensive haircut I have cost me around $40+. If I add in rebonding, the most that I have ever paid before is around $200+ I think. I broke my record today... I had my hair cut at this hair salon in Ngee Ann City which was recommended by my colleague who has lovely hair... I spent $350 to do a rebonding and hair cut... My rebonding cost $250 and haircut alone cost $65! Very expensive, but I quite like my hair. I think I look younger in this hair. :D Describing the place as hair salon may not even be the correct word to use. Beauty Salon may probably be a better word to use since while I was there, I noticed that you can actually get your nails done there too. I know my colleague has her eyebrows trimmed there too.

That place is high class de lor... There's even a tiny tv at each seat to keep you occupied while you are cutting, dyeing, rebonding, perming or doing treatment for your hair. You can select the channel that you want but I did not explore it further. You are given a choice of coffee, tea or plain water to drink too when most places either offer you water or tea. No wonder it cost so much to do my hair there...

I kind of like the hair stylist so I guess I will be visiting her every few months to cut my hair. She say I can give her an sms and go back if I want to trim my fringe. I am trying to psycho myself that $65 a haircut will be able to last me for 3 months which works out to be $20 a month... At most I eat less, spend less... lol... See how lah... :P

Thoughts...

My company recently sent two of my colleagues to this course which is some kind of a self development course. There is 3 parts to this programme, Basic Training, Advanced Course and Leadership Programme. The Basic Training is where they will let you gain self awareness or maybe self actualisation. I don't really remember what the Advanced and Leadership Programme helps you to achieve.

One of my colleague who attended it believed in how much it helped her that she went on to Advanced and Leadership programme. She was encouraging me to go for the course since I told her that I don't mind taking the course provided the company is sponsoring me. I am not willing to pay $1200 to attend this course which may or may not even help me at all.

My colleague thinks that this course will be able to help me as I do not know what is it that I want in life. I told her that sometimes it's not that I do not know what is it that I want in my life. I do know some of the things that I want, but it's just that knowing what I want doesn't mean that I can have what I want. There are times if the consequences as a result of what happen will outweigh the returns that I will get if I'm successful. This will in turn destroy everything that I have now. She was asking me whether I am happy if I don't do or get what I want. I may not be happy but sometimes it is not about getting what I want. It is just that there are somethings that I can foresee happening if I want to get what I want. There was once upon a time when I tried being courageous and took the initiative to try and reach out to get what I want but I ended up being disappointed. Really disappointed.

Now, I am still wondering if I should reach out and get what I want or just let things remain as it is now. After all, it is too high a risk to take and the way life is now is not very bad. Even if I know there will always be a regret that I cannot fulfil...

Flunked!

I flunk my driving test again! Sian 1/2... This time is something worse.. Mount kerb!!! No choice. Looks like I have to take another time. I was still looking forward to terrorising the roads. I was still telling everyone else that I want to be a licensed mobile road hazard. Too bad everyone... Looks like you will have to wait until March! :P

Regrets

I always caution myself when I make any decisions, that I should not have regrets. Just like that time when I choose what school to go after my 'O' Levels, what was I going to do after I did badly for my 'A' Levels. I never really have any regrets since I know what is it that I want.

No matter how I caution myself, there are always bound to be somethings that I cannot control. Just like how badly I fare in 'A' Levels thus I ended up having to back track and go to poly. I regretted not studying harder then so that at least I may be able to get into University and don't have to backtrack. However, life will definitely be very different for me if I never been through that stage of life. I will not know all those good girlfriends in poly. I may not be as good friends with Fred as I am now. I may not know those people from SPUG. I guess that's why people say "Things happen for a Reason".

There are other things that I regret too. Things like not starting my degree course sooner because of the unfairness in the stupid decision made by the school that made me postpone my studies. If I carried on with the course, I will probably be graduating this June and not like 2 years later. So sian... Anyway, it's too late to do anything about it now. So I just have to live with it.

There was 1 particular decision that I made when I was much younger (Damn, I am making myself sound so old) like when I was 17 that till now, I have not regretted at all. I was and still is, very glad to stand by what I did then. It was something which I never told anyone about before and never will. Not even to Fred who probably knows every other secret that I have. :P

Maybe I am trying to compensate for the one of the regrets that I once had and thus I am lead to make a decision. A decision that I am now starting to wonder if I will live to regret. Maybe not now, but in the future? I just hate the look of how things are going right now. The way that shows that I will regret making this decision one day. The way it is going to kill me...

This thing call Love...

I forgot where did I read it before but for some reason, this phrase came into my mind tonight while I was walking home.

Some people always say that Love is Blind. But the truth is, Love is NOT blind. It is people using this saying Love is Blind as an excuse to justify their actions.

Sometimes I even wonder if a person had truely loved before if they had never done anything crazy for it. No matter how clever, sensible or practical the person is, there will be some point in time that they will end up doing some stupid thing that they never thought they will ever do because of this thing call Love.

Even though I have always think of myself as someone quite sensible, I did some stupid things before. Till now, occasionally I will start thinking about it and wonder if it is worth it or not. Maybe I have the answers a few years down the road... Maybe not... No matter what, there's still no regrets... At least I don't want it to become something that I will regret...

Tired...

3 days in school and I am totally tired! I am even beginning to wonder if going back to school is a wrong decision on my part.... Faintz... I will finish school at 10pm and will only reach home by 11 the earliest... By the time I do my stuff, it will be time to go to bed.

I am currently on course in Changi these 2 days. It's a horrible thought that I have to travel all the way from Changi to Clementi for school. Luckily today there was this kind lady in my class staying in Clementi who dropped me off to school. Tomorrow I will need to figure out how am I going to travel to Bukit Gombak to learn driving...

I am feeling so tired that I am thinking of canceling my plans to go shopping for my CNY clothes in Orchard on Friday. I feel like just going home and nua for a change... Let's see how it goes...

Books

I have the habit of reading since young. I don't stick to one particular genre of books. Most of the time I will just grab any book that catches my interest and read them. Of course I do have some authors whose books that I will try to read whenever possible.

Most of the time I prefer to borrow books from the library as I don't have space to store them at home. Another reason is because I will mostly read the book once and leave it there for many many years until I remember it again. However, over the recent years, I do buy a book occasionally whenever I see a good buy.

I have been reading Jeffrey Archer's books since secondary school days I think. I bought a book "A Prisoner by Birth" written by Jeffrey Archer one or two months ago and only got to reading it only a few days ago. :P I am still halfway into reading it but still, I bought another book "False Impression" that was written by him too at Popular today. At $5+, the book is too cheap for me to think before buying. I think this is a very good buy. :D I do hope his new books are still as good as his old ones. Looking forward to finishing the stories...

Recapping 2008

The year 2008 can probably be what I will describe as good I guess especially work-wise. I got promoted and was sent to Shanghai for an overseas trip to help out in a tradeshow.

In other aspects, it was quite ok too. I got back in touch with some friends whom I have slowly losing touch with as the years goes by. I now realised that somethings works both ways. It is very hard for one person to always be the one putting in the effort to make sure you keep in contact. Sometimes, you will have to take the initiative and the other person will have to make that similar effort to.

Some events that happened in 2008 made me realised that Dreams do come true. At least for me, the dream that came true was something that I had never expected. It also in turn made me change my point of view about somethings. At least now, I know that there are somethings that I have to do if not I may have more regrets in my life.

Whatever it is, I hope 2009 will be a good year. :)

Resolutions for 2009?

I was browsing through my old entries in 2007 and 2008 and realised that every year I will make resolutions and HOPE I can fulfil them in the coming new year. It seems to me that I am not succeeding...

Then again... There are still some resolutions that I really want to fulfil... Losing weight... For some reason, maybe because of the medications that I took earlier on or something, my weight only keeps on rising... It's really time for it to drop lah... I am getting too fat for my own good... :(

I am planning to keep all my credit cards at home too in order to prevent myself from spending any money. After all, after some calculation and all, I realised that I just have enough to get by every month after paying my school fees provided I don't go shopping. No choice lah... I just have to make do with what I have... :S

Happy 2009!

Happy New Year! May 2009 be a better year for everyone! :)
