Rest In Peace Mr. Lee Kuan Yew

Today is the day that Mr. Lee Kuan Yew has finally laid in peace.

It is a great loss to Singapore. Without him, Singapore will not be what it is now. Which is why I have great respect for him, even though I have to admit, I do not agree to all the policies he had set. He had helped to build a Singapore that is like no other country.

I once told a colleague from India that there is no way I will trade the safety and security of Singapore for another country. Singapore is probably the only country that I know, where I will dare to walk in the streets at 3am in the morning and not fear for my safety. Singapore gives me a sense of security that no other place can provide. If ever I am to go to another country to live in, it will only be temporary. For an experience. No matter what happens, Singapore will always be my home. I dare to say he made us all proud to be Singaporeans.

I was telling my colleagues this afternoon that actually we are quite fortunate. We lived in an era where we are able to witness at first hand, personally, how he brought Singapore to what it is now. The generations after us will only be able to hear of his legacy like hearing a bedtime story. They will never have the chance to experience the changes he had brought about to Singapore which brought Singapore to great heights.

I saw this drawing by Eva Comics. Thought it is really nice.

Rest in peace Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. I hope you will go to a better place where there is no pain and suffering and join your wife whom you loved so dearly.

合欢山

Almost froze myself to death just to see the sunrise on 合欢山. Amazing view and we were lucky to enjoy good weather that morning. Too bad it did not snow... Probably won't return to the place anytime soon because I don't feel that well at such high altitude. 😫

初恋

We went and caught a movie, 极光之爱, while we were in Taipei for holidays. This particular phrase caught my attention.

初恋的存在是为了遗憾 - 极光之爱

There is a certain component of the phrase that is quite true...

Bumping into an old friend

I was commuting to my work place via MRT just like any other day. Little did I expect the surprise I get today.

An old friend boarded the train at SengKang, 1 station after mine. I was really caught by surprised! CM was an old friend from secondary school whom we had lost touch with ever since he went overseas for studies. We had all tried to message him to try to keep in touch with him but to no avail.

It was awkward at first because I think he is abit paiseh. He had not been replying to any of our msgs at all. We chatted for a while, trying to catch up with each other's life that he missed while he MIA-ed. I updated him with the happenings of the people whom had all been trying to get him. He has shifted to SengKang, still staying with his parents. He has a gf but is not married yet. He said he is usually earlier but he left home later today as he is going to his new work place at MBC.

I told him I was really happy to see him. I told him we are planning to meet up for a meal soon so I will message him to let him know when and see if he wants to join us.

I was really happy to see him. I do hope he will keep in touch with us again...
