Pandora - leaving a bad taste in my mouth

It took me a really long time before I finally decide to get a Pandora. I liked the idea of being able to customised the bracelet with charms that I like. However, I think it is rather silly to spend so much on a bracelet that is made of silver. Hubs decided to get me one for my birthday because he knew I liked it but just couldn't justify to myself to spend so much on a silver bracelet.

It took much convincing and we decided to bite the bullet. We popped by one of the stores in the neighbourhood area and start the "selection process". I have to admit I should have at least done more homework before I decide to spend that kind of money. My thought was quite simple actually. I browsed through Pandora's website a few days ago and a Murano Glass charm caught my eye. I didn't want hubs to spend too much money too so I was like "Ok! Get the bracelet plus that charm. That should settle it until I see other charms that I like enough to add on to my collection. At least it shouldn't cost hubs too much money."

The SA serving us was nice and helpful at first. She recommended me the type of bracelet to get. Then comes the catch.  In order for the charm to not run all around the bracelet, I will need to buy 2 clips to sort of fix the charms in one section. That was a surprise to me and I totally did not factor it into what I had planned to get. The first thought that came to my mind was "Pandora is really damn smart in making money."

The SA recommended a few charms to add on to the Murano Glass charm that I liked to make the bracelet nicer and perhaps more "wearable". I hesistated about getting the ones she recommended because they are not quite to my taste and abit "overcrowded". I like my bracelet simple. Plus I was not very willing to spend that kind of money yet.

It took me a while to consider and browse through a few designs. The SA got impatient and started showing me her attitude. She started keeping all the clips and charms that I had asked to see and not even leaving them around for me to see and make comparisons. I was quite taken aback by her attitude. She was not rude but I could sense her displeasure. If I had been more thick skinned, I would have just walk out of the store and not purchase anything at all. Instead, I bought the bare minimum I could and left the store. I did wonder if I was over sensitive so I checked with hubs if that SA did show me attitude. Hubs said he did sensed it. He felt that maybe she thought I was taking too long. So it meant I was not being over sensitive.

Pandora which helps women celebrate their unforgettable moments had just left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. What an unforgettable moment indeed. It kind of spoil the whole thing for me. Even hubs mentioned that I didn't seem as happy like how I usually am when I get a new toy. So unfortunate...

Thoughts about Singapore GE 2015

To be honest, I never had much interest in Singapore politics. Politics is probably something that catches my interest only when elections are due. I do not dislike PAP which is the ruling party in the so-called democratic Singapore. That said, it does not mean I like PAP also.

To be fair, PAP has done a good job in bringing Singapore to where it is now. However, this does not mean they are really doing such a fantastic job that no one else is able to take over. It is not like if one day, PAP were to lose the majority seats that they have in the Parliament, Singapore will crash and disappear from the surface of the world. I have learnt over the years that no one is indispensable.

Over the years, I felt that some of the Opposition parties have gained some candidates of very good calibre. Some of them, even better than what PAP has even though PAP is so-called supposed to have talents with the scores of President Scholars amongst them. Some of the MPs from PAP really makes me wonder how did they end up in the Parliament. They can be SUPER disconnected to the lives of us commoners. So much so that I think they should feel ashamed of themselves as they are meant to serve the country. Some actually made comments that made me rolled my eyes and go "WTF?!" Did we, Singaporeans, really vote them in? Or are they in because of the GRC system?

I think the GRC system is a stupid system, yet I can understand why they cannot do away with that system. The government is making use of the GRC system to ensure they can "parachute" some people into the parliament should the team win the election for that particular constituency which may at times be due to a certain individual. If they were to change all the constituencies into SMCs, I bet there will be more than the 7 opposition parties in the parliament now. However, I believed PAP learnt a hard lesson with Aljunied GRC in 2011 GE when they lost to WP and in turn lost George Yeo. I hope, this year, their loss will not be as great as last elections. I believe, PAP will probably lose one or two more GRC/SMC to the opposition even though they will still remain as the ruling party.

If only they do away with the GRC system, it won't be such a dilemma for me to decide who to vote for... "Vote wisely". Easier said than done. If the opposition party competing in the constituency that I am in is more worthy of my vote, I probably won't be in such a dilemma. That said, I am not a fan of the PAP in my constituency too.

I don't think I will tikam at the polling station like what I told my friend jokingly. I doubt I will want to waste my vote. We shall see... Today is the Polling Day! I am actually quite excited to see if there is any black horse! :D

Singapore Election 2015

Google actually designed a doodle for Singapore Election 2015. So cute!

Mid year overview

Time flies. Really flies. It is already mid of 2015. I am stepping into my 33rd birthday soon. Sigh...

When I look around me, it seems that nothing has changed much yet everything has changed.

Friends

I guess over the years I have kinda accepted the fact that there are some people in our life whom we are destined to keep as friends for life and some whom will be there for us only during that period of time. Just like people from my school days. Primary School, Secondary School, JC, Poly and Uni... I am keeping in touch with some of them every now and then. There are some whom I will love to keep as friends for life but sometimes somethings are just not meant to be... Kinda sad but that is how it works I guess. It is also kinda surprising for me to gain a friendship from someone I had not really expect from. So I guess what they say is true. "In Life, you win some, you lose some."

Career

Nay... still not moving at all. I have not had the golden handshake from my boss yet. So disappointing. I heard about the new organisation change and I am not sure if it is for good. The problem with the company is that they have organisation changes so often that I am kinda numb about it. I am still looking forward to the golden handshake. Until then, I think I can only stay put in the company bah...

Family

Maybe it is because I am growing older and so are my parents. I dread to imagine losing my parents one day. I can already foresee that it will be very hard for me to take it when that day really come. I cannot delude myself telling myself that that day will never come because 生老病死 is a natural occurrence of life. So I try to make myself to visit my parents at least once a week. That is the least I can do. The biggest irony is I probably spend more time with my parents in the recent years after I moved out than when I was staying with them.

Round and round

Yes. I am still going round and round in the merry go round. There don't seem to be any way for me to get out of it yet. I am not sure if I want to too. Sigh... Let's just make the best out of it bah...

I can't think of anything else to say for the time being... Till my muse is back again then~
